Neil,

Right there with you on the sales subject. I also hate sales. But the secret is to get yourself into a place where it's not really cold calling jerks, but, rather it gets to where you're just helping people that have common interests. I know this will take a long time, and you're sort of starting out again. You would do well selling music gear. Probably no money in that unless you're the owner. What about an online music gear store?

So, 4th freakin' interview Wednesday with Payroll One.  This has already been a 5 week process.  Other interviews are starting to roll in, but damn, it takes months to find a job.  I'm not thrilled about selling payroll services again as this is where I started out from college.  But shit, I need to find some work and I am qualified for that position since I was successful with their largest competitor.

Am I the only one that doesn't have 6 months of pay stashed away as we are supposed to?  I had 3 months worth and it takes 6-8 weeks from first interview to being hired with most of these companies.  Hate the idea of taking money out of retirement plan, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.  Had a response today where I had to do an online behavioral survey before even getting a phone interview.  Took about an hour and every question had two answers, both of which always seemed appropriate.   :angry2:  Choose one, -A- "you are a hard worker and never show up late for work", -B- "you are able to take instruction from your superiors".  -A- "you never lose your cool under stress", -B- "you are a team player".  WTF?

At least you're not bored. You'll do well in sales.

Hah, I'm never bored, can always find a way to entertain myself.   :001_cool:

Yes, I can do well in sales as I have in the past, but I HATE SALES and thus why I tried education.  Come to find out, I HATE EDUCATION too.  :sad2:  Damn, life sucks.

Hey Tim, thanks for the thoughts.  First off, every job pays more than a teacher  :grin2:.  Secondly, I sold my truck and plow two years ago because I quit snow removal.  Couldn't keep it up with teaching and just use our Durango to pull my trailer now (and yes, I would have raked in the money this year  :sad2:).  Thirdly, programming is a great idea but I can't stand the thought of more student loans.  Anyway, I have my third interview with a company for a sales position this week.  It would be a step backward sales wise, but pays way more than I was making as a teacher, although it will be more difficult to keep up the lawns which is hard to give up.  I love the idea of my kids having a built in job during the summers as they get older.  Sucks to be my age and be in this position.  Should have stuck with the business, but the grass is always greener on the other side  :scratch_one-s_head:  I'm pretty marketable and things will work out, just pisses me off that there was quite a bit of wasted time the last few years.  Good luck with the app though, that is sweet what you are putting together.  I just wish I could make money some way in music, that has been my problem from day one.  We must do what we love in order to truly be happy.  Unfortunately, I have not found a way to do what I love and at the same time support the people I love.   :piano:
